The Wheelhouse
Ceramic Studio & Classes

Website | Integrated Scheduling +checkout

It was great working the Dean & Garry, owners of The Wheelhouse in South Melbourne. The guys had just moved into a new & larger physical premises to expand their business offering and they wanted the design aesthetic to reflect through to their website.

The Wheelhouse website was previously on the Wordpress platform which they found to be quite restrictive due the knowledge and coding required to make their own alterations. They had their initial website for around three years and it was time for an upgrade. Squarespace was the obvious solution.

The scope was to make the site more image focussed, user friendly and have call to action throughout. There was also the scheduling system that they require for their term bookings and one-off classes. The scheduling product provided by Squarespace is natively added into the website and extremely easy to manage & use. Conveniently they were already using the Scheduling embedded on Wordpress. However since moving across platforms, they are finding it works more seamlessly.

I made a number of suggestions and subsequent enhancements throughout the project and there was generous consultation with feedback flowing to both parties. It was important for them to show their clientele that they had grown, but also that they hadn’t lost their boutique level of service that they worked so hard to maintain.

The outcome has had awesome feedback and we’re all really proud of the results.

Dean Millsom
Master Ceramicist

Website | Artist Profile

Stunning clay pottery products are produced by this talented gentleman. Millsom had not previously had a website to display his projects and work. When introduced to Squarespace, he was immediately impressed with the ease and functionality of the back-end admin area - so that he is able update content & images himself as needed.

The ambit was simplicity and elegance without unnecessary pretentiousness. Millsom gave me the freedom to create the site how I felt it was relevant to him and his products. He has beautiful hand-made pieces and they speak for themselves so it was intended to be image heavy with brief blurbs on the artist and commission works.

I am continuing to work on the site as he further grows his personal projects and press pages, and meanwhile he is able to update his gallery selection on the home page.

Millsom is looking forward to adding a commerce section to the website which we have already started creating in the background.

Sidewalk Tramp
Men’s Fashion Accessories

Website | E-Commerce

Working on ‘the Tramp’ was lots of fun. It was the first full website I’d created from scratch back in covid lockdown and continue to work on now. The great thing about ecommerce is that it’s constantly evolving and you really need to keep it up to date like a physical store. So there’s lots of opportunity for creative flare. Technically, there’s a lot to keep up with and something new to work with.

Shopify is built specifically for online retail and it does an excellent job at it. After installing the chosen theme (for it’s aesthetic style) there is a lot to customise. There are a huge range of apps which integrate into the store (free & paid) which is great depending on how far you want to go with it. One of my favourite details about this site is the cleverly designed swatches for different colours, which are actually the various colour product images instead of flat colour boxes which often don’t give a true visual of other options.

Since designing this store, Shopify has come out with a new ‘super version’ of the platform, 2.0, which offers a lot more flexibility with how to layout & construct elements within the site. This means there are great new themes available. Soon we will transition Sidewalk Tramp over to a new theme to give an even more modern look to the site.

The store has generated great results so far and we are currently working on many behind the scenes aspects to grow the product offering, traffic and sales conversion. If you are looking to start or upgrade on online store, Shopify is a superior choice.

MissM Client Solutions
Consultancy

Website | Business Profile

Virginia, owner of MissM, has a professional services business and was about to launch new services under her brand. She wanted a minimalistic website outlining the services she offers and providing some information about her team.

The brief was to create a one page only website with a ‘soft scroll’ to each section from the menu items in the header navigation. A contact form was also required.

Virginia and I liaised throughout the project to ensure her needs were being met. I provided website preview links to her for approval and changes. We found the services section was quite text heavy, so this allowed us to utilise the Squarespace ‘accordion’ which, when selected, opens that service item to display more detailed information.

Virginia was lovely to work with as she was very open & honest about what she liked or wanted to change. She is extremely happy with the end result.

Yes, you guessed it. This is where you are now. This is where I really blow my own trumpet! Haha! I am pretty proud of the website design. I hope you like it and find it easy to navigate. I welcome any feedback.

My aim is to show you who I am and I what I can offer. Plus create a bit of extra value content. It’s about me… but it’s all for you. Pretty simple.

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
